Father, in Jesus name, I am desperately needy of You in my life. Your people desperately need You and so does this world. Sadly, even in these unprecedented times and circumstances, too many are living as if there is someone or something else other than You that we can look and turn to to give us what we are longing for. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne and yet very rarely do I hear people mentioning our great need for You.
The brokenness, corruption, depravity, despair, hopelessness, idolatry, immorality, inhumanity, injustice, vice, violence, and vileness in our world are beyond the ability and capability of man to do anything to remedy. In the face of the challenges in our world we realize that we do not know what to do nor have the power to do anything apart from You. There is no hope, justice, righteousness, and salvation for this world apart from that which You have made available to us through Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
God, bring Your people to the place where we truly recognize that Jesus is all that we need. Show us those things that we are looking to, turning to, trusting in, and building our lives on other than the cornerstone - Jesus Christ. By Your Spirit, move us to renounce our idols and to repent of our sin. God, please turn our eyes and our hearts back to You - and You only. Fill us afresh and in overflowing measure with Your Holy Spirit. Bring us to the place where there is nothing more that we want than to be in Your presence and to behold Your glory.
Father, overwhelm us with Your love so that Your love freely flows to, in, and through our lives. May we indeed be a people who love You, the Lord our God, with all of our hearts, minds, souls, and strength and love our neighbors as we love ourselves. In this divided and hostile world, help us, Your people, to love one another as Jesus loved us from different racial, ethnic, cultural, national backgrounds in such a way that the world will know that we follow Jesus. May the love of Christ so compel us to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of our world. We need a great outpouring of Your Holy Spirit upon the Church and through the Church to the world. O Jesus, use Your Church to offer You to this world. For our world needs You right now!
