God As I Return to You: Use Me for Your Glory (Prayer Blog 287)

Father, in the name of Jesus, I honor and exalt You, for You are my God and King. There is no one like You, none that even comes close. You are the great and mighty LORD. You are more than sufficient for me to focus on now and for eternity. However, I am often distracted by temporary news about human achievements that offer me no real benefit. This is detrimental to my soul as it causes me to drift from You.

You are my only anchor, rock, and source of stability now and forever. Please forgive me for abandoning You, the Living Water, in favor of broken cisterns and polluted wells. You instruct us not to worship other gods, for You alone are God. You will not share Your glory or praise with another or with an idol. Forgive me for my grievous and wicked sins and cultivate genuine repentance within me.

Why do You continue to let me live and enjoy life's gifts when I treat You, the Author of Life, as non-essential? If You had not decided to create anything, nothing else would exist besides You. Nothing You have created can ever come close to comparing to You. My existence is solely because You chose to create me. Without Your decision to send Your Son, Jesus, into this world for my salvation, I would remain dead in my sins and deserving of Your impending wrath.

Instruct me in the fear of the Lord, so that it influences my daily life. While You remain constant, I am affected by my surroundings, the company I keep, observers, circumstances, and numerous other elements. Guide me to remain aware of Your presence always and to remember that my life should be dedicated solely to You. Grant me a deep sensitivity to Your Spirit so that I may think, speak, and act according to Your will.

You have saved my life and redeemed my soul through the precious blood of Jesus Christ. I am not my own or anyone else's; I am Yours. I belong to You. My body is a temple for Your Holy Spirit. Fill this temple and use me to glorify You in this body and spirit, which are Yours.

Let Your purposes be accomplished and Your glory be shown through my life, marriage, and family. Guide me to fully surrender everything to You. Use me to uplift, challenge, encourage, and strengthen the body of Christ through the role You have assigned to me. May every member of the body fulfill their role in building up the body into the head - the Lord Jesus Christ.

Enable Your children to live in unity and love, so that outsiders will recognize Your followers by our genuine love for one another. Instill in us Your compassionate heart, prompting us to present Jesus, the Anointed One, to them with clarity, conviction, humility, and the Spirit's power. Use us to guide many from darkness into Jesus' marvelous light. Amen!
