Jesus, You Are the Only One Who Can Truly Satisfy! (Prayer Journal 233)

Updated: Apr 21

Father, in Jesus' name, I bless and praise You my God and my King. You are good and You are great. You are wonderful and worthy. You are awesome and Almighty. You are altogether lovely. There is no one like You, no one who comes infinitely close to comparing to You. You are the One and only true and living God. You do not change. You are faithful and truth, loving and just, merciful and mighty. You are God alone and You alone are God.

You are all that I need, the only One who can truly satisfy. Forgive me once again giving into the lusts of my flesh through the gluttonous consumption of food and drink. Forgive me for not wisely stewarding over this body which is a temple of Your Holy Spirit. Forgive me for acting like I am the owner of what You have given me rather than a steward called to be faithful.

God, help me to rest and to find rest in You. Break me from the mentality that I always need to be doing something. Teach me how to be still and know that You are God. Help me to swim in Your presence and to live out of the overflow of intimate fellowship with You. You have not created and redeemed me to be Your worker, but Your child whom You dearly love. You have given me the great privilege of partnering with You in Your eternal purpose. I do not have to do anything to gain Your acceptance, approval, and love. The truth is that all these things, and so much more, are mine in Jesus Christ.

I have sinned against You and fallen short of Your glory. All I deserve from You, the Holy One, is death. But You have made available to me the gift of eternal life through faith in Your Son Jesus. I am blown away that He, the King of glory, left from the glory shared with the You from before the foundation of the world to come into this fallen world of sin.

Jesus, You wrapped Your deity, the fullness of God's glory, in the image of sinful humanity. You laid aside Your royal robe to pick up the servant's towel as You came to serve sinful humanity. You were blasphemed, mocked, wrongly accused, crucified, and killed by men as You willingly bore the sins of the entire world. You drank the full cup of God's wrath down to the very dregs as You died for our sin. Just as You said, You rose bodily from the dead to give the forgiveness or sins and the gift of eternal life to all who would place their faith in You. By this You have satisfied the deep-down thirst of my soul forevermore.

Sadly, there are too many times that I blatantly disobey You, disregard You, disrespect You, and dishonor You. Far too often I choose the broad road, compromise, make excuses, justify my behavior, and compare myself to others. This causes me to think that I am ok rather than seeing my desperate need for Your mercy and grace in light of Your holiness. Forgive me for this great sin committed against You. Help me to truly surrender my life to You, obey Your Word, and submit to Your will as I yield to Your Holy Spirit. Bring a godly sorrow to my soul, produce in me repentance, and help me to return to You with my whole heart. For You alone are the lover of my soul, the One my heart longs for. Amen!!!
