Jesus, Your Love Does Not Make Sense! (Prayer Journal 122)

Father, in Jesus' name, I bless and praise You my God and my King. You are great, gracious, and glorious. There is none like You. For You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth by the words that were spoken from Your mouth. You are the One who sustains all that You have made by the word of Your power. It is by the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for the sins of the world that You have reconciled all things in heaven and on earth to Yourself.

Jesus, I cannot begin to fathom Your condescension from heaven to earth. For You are the One who shared glory with the Father before the world began (John 17:5). Yet You humbled Yourself even more as the sins of the whole world were laid on You and the full brunt of God's wrath was poured out on You. Through faith in You, I am accepted now in the beloved because You were forsaken. You were condemned as the vilest of humanity as You died for the sins of the world when You were the perfectly obedient Son. It was through Your death and resurrection that You made a way for me to be declared right with God.

Father, what kind of love is this? That even before the foundation of the world You planned that Jesus would be set apart as a lamb to take away the sins of the world. Jesus, You are indeed the Savior of the world and especially for those who believe. Help me to better know, understand, and experience the heights, depth, breath, and width of Your limitless love. God, You have shed Your love abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit. In response to Your love for me, empower me to love You with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love my neighbors as I love myself. In Jesus' name, Amen!!!
