Father, I am getting weary of COVID-19, weary of being in this house, weary of the pain in my body, and weary of sitting on the sidelines when Your Word and the gospel of Your Son Jesus Christ are so greatly needed in the world. I know, God, that even in the midst of the present circumstances that You are to be given thanks and praise. So please help me to do that in spite of how I feel.
Help me to remember that as long as there is breath in this body that You have purpose for my life. God, You always get a return on Your investments. You are the One who has made my heart new fertile soil in which Your Word has been planted and watered and You will bring growth. Help, me to get my focus off of my circumstances and You using my life and to just surrender my life more and more to You. God, do not let me become lazy, complacent, indifferent, and apathetic towards You and Your will.
Could it be that You are providing me rest in the midst of a global pandemic? I so want to insert myself in to what is going on in the world. But You have chosen to grant me a season of rest for the healing of my body and the revival of my soul. Help me to see my life, marriage, family, circumstances, and what is happening in the world through Your eyes. In the midst of it all, help me to be still and know that You are God.
God, give me an urgency to seek You and find You as I search for You with all of my heart, to follow You wherever You lead me, and to do whatever You tell me. And if that is just to be still and do nothing but sit and rest then let me sit and rest with great joy, peace, and contentment in Your presence. Grant me an ear that is attentive to Your voice and obedient heart to do Your will and bring You glory. So give me the grace to stay where I am until You move me.
God, do not let me me waste time trying to figure out what to do. Help me to trust You with all of my heart, to lean not to my own understanding, to acknowledge You in all of my ways as You direct my paths and make them straight. God, speak to me, open my ears to hear Your voice, and grant me an obedient heart to walk in Your way and not turn from it to the right or to the left. May Your Word be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
God, be glorified in and through my life as I give myself to You the One who gave Yourself fully to me. Bring me to the place where my highest priority is for Your name to be treated as holy in all of the earth, to see Your Kingdom come and will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Make me a man who delights myself in You so that You and what You desire is what my heart desires. Cause my heart to beat in tandem with Yours. Break my heart with what breaks Yours and help me to love what You love and to hate what You hate.
God, make me a man who is jealous for Your glory who wants to please You in all that I do. Grant me an undivided heart and teach me to fear Your holy name. Make me a God chaser - one who loves Your presence and pursues You until I am consumed by Your glory when I finally see You face to face. Lord Jesus, You must increase in me and I must decrease. Live Your resurrected life in and through me so that You may make Yourself known to others through me beginning in my home and wherever else You lead me. In Jesus' name. Amen!
