Embracing God's Grace: Heart of Worship (Prayer Journal 281)

Father, in Jesus' name, I thank You for Your mercy, compassion, love, and faithfulness to Your children. You are truly great and worthy of praise. Your grace is incredible and beyond my understanding. Help us recall how desperate we were in our sinful condition when You revealed to us who Jesus is.

Thank You for hearing our cries for mercy and responding. Your actions lead us to worship You, the only One worthy. Thank You for lifting our guilt, depression, and sorrow, granting us forgiveness, peace, and joy. Thank You for saving our soul, adopting us into Your family, accepting us, and transforming our status from death to life, sinner to righteousness, and outcast to chosen.

Assist us in understanding that You surpass what You have done for us and the opportunities those deeds provide. Tear down the barriers within us that prevent us from offering You the gratitude and worship You deserve. You have accomplished for us what no one else has. No one even comes remotely close to comparing to You.

May we become a people who desire not only what You offer, but who desire You alone. May we seek Your presence, O God of Jacob. A people who searches for You wholeheartedly and discovers You. Reveal to us where we have neglected to return and express gratitude for Your deeds. Forgive us for valuing the blessings You have given us more than You.

Lead us back to the essence of worship, where the focus is entirely on Jesus. Let us discover the abundance that only You can provide. We seek Your presence in our marriages, health, finances, relationships with children and grandchildren, friendships, workplaces, communities, and churches. However, above all else, we need You. Please prevent temporary blessings from overshadowing the eternal life we have in You.

Lead us to repent for allowing infinitely lesser things to be more important to us than You. Draw us back to the feet of Jesus. There are many crying out to You for You to fix something in their lives thinking that will give them what they need. Be at work by Your Spirit drawing them to Jesus that they may recognize that knowing Him is what they really need. Only He can satisfy their souls, forgive their sins, give them purpose, and grant them eternal life. In Jesus' name, Amen!
