Jesus Help Us to Be the Church, You Called Us to Be (Prayer Journal 269)

Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, I honor and exalt You, my God and King. You are the Ruler of the Universe, the King of Glory, with a throne set in the heavens, and Your Kingdom reigns over all. You sit on Your heavenly throne, governing the nations. You are the great and mighty LORD, the one true and living God. You are the one God manifested in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are co-eternal, co-equal, and co-existing. You are holy, with none like You and none beside You.

We are grateful that You chose not to unleash Your wrath upon us for our sins and rebellion against You. Thank You for sending Jesus as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Thank You, Jesus, for dying for our sins and rising from the dead to reconcile us with God. Help us to focus not only on carrying out the ministry of Jesus but also to prioritize our love for Him above everything else. Grant us Your love for one another and Your compassion for those around us and those You guide us to.

Let us shift our focus from the number of people we reach or those attending our local churches to acknowledging that each person is an individual with a name, created in Your image and likeness, whom You desire to have an intimate relationship with. Guide us to fulfill all that You have called us to with excellence and for Your glory. May we perform all our actions as if for You, Lord, and not for humans. Release us from relying on our strategies instead of Your Spirit, our processes instead of Your presence and power, brainstorming sessions instead of Your wisdom, and our dreams and visions instead of Your Word.

Disrupt our routine of conducting worship services where we invite Your Spirit yet expect Him to adhere to our schedule and plans. Let us not be content with performing actions in Your name that lack genuine power and fail to produce lasting fruit, as they are carried out through our own strength and wisdom. I pray that You interrupt our gatherings, granting us a sacred encounter with Your manifest presence. Pour out Your Spirit abundantly upon us, unleash Your Word to bring healing, and reveal Jesus to us. Instill a godly sorrow in our hearts for our sins, lead us to repentance, and transform us to become increasingly like Jesus. Through our repentance, revive our souls.

Spirit of God, manifest among us and break down the barriers that prevent us from having a close relationship with You and obstruct us from bringing Jesus' presence to a world in dire need of Him. Amid the moral decline and corruption of this generation, may we serve as Your salt on the earth, preserving people from judgment by inspiring a thirst for Jesus. In the world's darkness, let us truly be Your lights, bringing life, light, and immortality to others through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Reveal to us Your actions, invite us to participate, fill us with Your Holy Spirit, and use us to fulfill Your will and purpose on earth. Perform wonders through us as we yield to You.
