Father, in Jesus' name, thank You for Your great love for me. You are so good and so faithful. Even when I feel like I am in a fog and sinking in quick sand, You are with me leading the way and making my steps firm. At times I feel so lazy, slothful, and unmotivated. If I am honest I do not really care all that much about the broken, hurting, and lost in this city, state, country, and world. I confess that I am apathetic, indifferent, and selfish. I am mostly concerned about my interests and rarely am I truly concerned about the interests of others. God, I am asking You to forgive me, turn my heart back to You, and grant me Your heart for others.
God, there is so much chaos in this world. There are so many people whose lives are in upheaval. Most days I sit in comfort tucked away in a nice home with an abundance of food that You have so generously provided. I have the freedom to go to and fro as I desire with no fear of bullets flying and bombs falling. Yet there are people right now in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Syria, Yemen and other nations of the world who have lost loved ones as casualties of conflicts, fearing for their lives, leaving from their homes, not knowing where there next meal is coming from, hiding, and fleeing to other nations as refugees. Though You foretold that these things would happen it is so sad about what is happening to so many people created in Your image and likeness. Yet what saddens me more is that I can go throughout my days giving very little thought to the plight of these precious human beings.
God, there is great division, hatred, and hostility in the world because people are separated, hostile, and alienated from You and deserving of eternal wrath because of our rebellion and sin. I am so grateful that You sent Jesus into the world to die for the sins of the world and to reconcile humanity to God and to one another in Christ. Thank You that Jesus was raised bodily from the dead so that people might be made right with God and given new life through faith in Him. This is the peace that all humanity needs and Jesus You are the Prince of Peace! For only You, Jesus, are the Savior of the world and the hope of the nations!
Jesus, give me Your eyes to see this world and fill me with Your heart of compassion. In this hour use Your Church to faithfully proclaim the good news of who You are and what You've done to the nations of the world. As we complete this assignment You will return to fully establish Your Kingdom of righteousness, peace, and justice in a new heaven and on a new earth. Grant me a holy encounter with Your manifest presence that leaves me in awe and wonder of You. So that the entirety of the rest of my earthly life be lived for You and Your glory alone. Do not allow me to waste the talents that You've entrusted to me on selfish pursuits but to expend them for Your Kingdom agenda and cause.
God, at times I feel like everyone else in the body of Christ knows what they are doing and I am the only one who does not have a clue. I not only do not know what to do but also recognize that apart from You that I do not have the ability to bring about Your will. Open my ears to hear what You are saying in this hour. Open my eyes to see You and Your activity in my life, marriage, family, church, community, city, state, nation, and world. Open my mind to understand Your Word and grant me wisdom on how to apply it in my life and in the circumstances and situations you place me in. Open my heart and make it obedient to Your Word and sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Bring me to the place of complete surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Open my mouth wide and fill it with the good news of Jesus and anoint me to speak it with boldness, compassion, urgency, and wisdom. In Jesus' name, Amen!!!
