Yahweh, You are the One and only true and living God. You are One God in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You are high and lifted up, seated on Your throne, and exalted above the heavens. You are so high that You have to stoop down to look upon the heavens and the earth. What blows my mind is the fact that You tore the heavens and came down to us in the person of Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God.
Jesus, thank You that You willingly left the glory You shared with God the Father before the creation of the world. You descended from Your throne in heaven to come into the world as a servant. You left the worship of angels to come and be blasphemed, mocked, ridiculed, betrayed, denied, rejected, and killed by people created in Your image. You could have come to pour out God's wrath on humanity for our rebellion and sin. Yet You came to be the atoning sacrifice for our sin through Your death on the cross. How deep the Father's love for us! How amazing and absolutely breathtaking is the way that You showed it to us. Because You did this in obedience to the Father, You were raised bodily from the dead on the third day.
I am not able to fathom why You did what You did. You did not have to do anything that You did. You did not need to create us for You do not need anyone or anything. You are self-sufficient. Everything that You need, You are. You made us to know You, to walk in intimate relationship with You, and to rule over the earth under Your sovereign rule.
From the first man Adam to each one of us, we rejected Your Word to listen to the enemy of our soul who thought that he could exalt himself above You and was cast out of heaven. he lied to us tempting us to question Your Word, Your care and love for us, and our need for You. We took the bait as we gave into our selfish desires and wound up separated from You, forfeited the rule of earth to the serpent, became his captives and Your enemies, and deserved Your wrath. None of this caught You off guard or took You by surprise. What blows me away is that You planned the redemption of humanity even before creation.
Father, thank You for lavishing Your great love on us instead of pouring out Your wrath on us. Thank You for making it possible for us to be reconciled to You, to be forgiven of our sins, to have Your divine life in us, and have the hope of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. You have made it possible for us to daily experience intimate fellowship with You and to partner with You in the coming of Your Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. You have given us dominion, in Christ, to rule over a certain sphere of influence in the earth where You have positioned us.
Jesus, grant us a great sensitivity to the Holy Spirit that we will only do what we see You do and only say what we hear You say. For You desire to use our lives to show forth the reality of who You are and the continuance of Your eternal Kingdom until the consummation of it at Your return. Thank You that Your presence is with us and that Your Spirit is in us. Give people an encounter with Your manifest presence through our lives and that they would hear Your Words through our lips. Amen!!!
