Jesus, Give Us Your Heart and Send Us Out! (Prayer Journal 20)

O God, in the midst of everything being shaken that can be shaken we look to You whose Kingdom is unshakeable. In the midst of gross darkness, only You, Jesus, are our light and our salvation. God, I lift up to you multitudes in our nation and world whose lives have been shaken to the core by the loss of friends and relatives from COVID-19, economic distress, racial tension, political polarization and uncertainty, and the many and diverse troubles that we face. I ask that you would meet them in their grief and minister comfort as only You can. In the face of despair and hopelessness, I ask that You'd minister to them hope through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Cause Your light to shine in their darkness and Your life to flow to them even in the face of death.

Jesus, I believe that when You see the multitudes that Your heart is filled with compassion, just as when You walked the earth. You, the One the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord rested on, preached good news to the poor, healed the wounds of the brokenhearted, set the captives free, released prisoners from their darkness, and proclaimed the time of God's favor (grace). Until You return, Jesus, You have called us, Your people, to do likewise as You empower us by Your Spirit to bear witness to the world of who You are. So I pray that You would mobilize and send forth Your disciples to minister to the multitudes of broken, hurting, and lost people all around us.

Jesus, in this hour use Your Church to shine the light of Christ and to share the hope of the gospel in the midst of the darkness and despair in our world. God do not let us operate in fear but to walk by faith as You are our shield and our exceeding great reward. Do not let us presume on Your grace but to live with a great sensitivity to Your Spirit as we only go where You send us and do what You say. God, make us a people of prayer knowing that our activity is useless apart from the outpouring of Your Spirit.

In this season of less activity and waiting, produce a godly sorrow in our hearts over the sin that has kept us from walking in genuine intimacy with You and lead us to repentance. As we, Your holy people, repent please revive us again! O God, through Your revived Church bring another great spiritual awakening that will shake the multitudes who are in the valley of decision into Your Kingdom. Jesus, help Your people to love one another as You loved us, to live in unity expressed through our multi-faceted diversity. God, in the midst of what appears to be chaos, confusion, and uncertainty, thank You that You are at work fulfilling Your sovereign plan and purpose throughout the earth. Thank You for the high calling that You've given us to serve as Christ's ambassadors. In Jesus' name. Amen!
