Praising God for Being in Control! (Prayer Journal - Excerpt 5)

Holy Father, in Jesus name, we bless and praise You for Your goodness and mercy. Thank You for the new mercies that You make available to Your people every morning. This is the day that You have made so help us to rejoice and be glad in it. You are in control over this day and all that happens in it throughout the entire world. There is nothing that will happen today that will take You by surprise or catch You off guard.

You are the eternal God who is in the past, present, and future simultaneously. For there is no succession of time with You. You know all things perfectly, instantly, and fully. You have never and never will need anyone to teach you, instruct You, or relay information to You. You never need to be briefed. You have no need for advisors. You are the all-knowing God with perfect understanding. You are the only wise God our Savior who knows exactly what to do in order to bring Your plans and purposes to pass. And You have all power and authority to bring to pass the end that You declared even from before the beginning of time.

You are infinitely beyond the universe that You made and yet at the same time personally involved in it. O God, Your throne is established in the heavens and Your Kingdom rules over all. Who is like You, O God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth? Yet You see and know all that happens in Your creation. Everything is laid bare before You the ever-present One. Even our hearts!

You know the evil and wickedness of every human heart. You knew before You created us that each and every one of us, who You created in Your image and likeness, would rebel against You. Yet You still chose to create us! And before the creation of the world, You had already chosen to set apart You Son to come into the world at a time that You appointed to restore us back to a right relationship with You.

Jesus, our minds can not fathom the glory that You had with the Father before the world began. O how the angels in heaven continually praised You for Your majesty as they humbled themselves before Your glorious presence. To think that You would willingly leave Your throne in heaven become a little lower than the angels and come to the earth that You made in the image of sinful humanity is mind-blowing. You, the One who is the radiance of God's glory, the image of the invisible God whose glory is above the heavens would plummet to the lowest of depths to come and save lost and sinful humanity.

How great is Your love for us Father that You would give Your One and only obedient Son for the disobedient who by nature are objects of wrath? Thank You, Father, for demonstrating Your love towards us in this that while we were sinners Christ died for us. And You considered that to be a fair exchange. O God, You gave Yourself up for that which You had made. God, You could have given us utter destruction - wrath for our sinful rebellion against You - and started all over but You did not. You chose to redeem us, ransom us, save us and You planned that from before the foundation of the world in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God, You do not need anyone or anything. All that You need You are. Yet You chose to make us to be objects of Your love and affection for Your pleasure and glory. Knowing full well that we would break Your heart and Your commands and be deserving of Your wrath. We could never fully understand You or why You do what You do but yet we are so glad that You chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world and adopted us into Your family. Thank You for lavishing Your love upon us so much so that we are now children of God and what we shall be has not yet been made known but when Jesus appears we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is. And this is the hope that purifies our soul as You empower us by Your Spirit to live a holy God-honoring life even in this present evil age. O God may the love of Christ control us as we live lives pleasing to You and bear witness for Christ.

Jesus, thank You that Your obedience to the Father all the way to the cross has made it possible for us to know God now and enjoy fellowship with Him for all of eternity. Because You did this:

And because this is true even in the midst of the chaos, confusion, distress, and uncertainty of our world we praise You, God, for we know the Jesus is coming soon to make everything new! In this present hour, we ask for a great outpouring of the Spirit to revive Your church and for the salvation of many before that great and glorious day. In Jesus name. Amen!
