God I Am Tired of Cheating on You: A Plea for Faithfulness (Prayer Blog 286)

Father, I am grateful for Your presence, protection, provision, power, peace, purpose, and guidance in my life. You have always been faithful, good, gracious, kind, loving, and steadfast in every situation. I often devote too much time, use too many resources, and focus my thoughts and attention on people and things that are far less significant than You.

Every day, I openly engage in spiritual adultery and idolatry right in front of You, without concern. You are aware of everything, as nothing is hidden from You. I indulge in sin and find amusement in it, fully aware that You are observing. I would never behave this way in front of my wife, kids, or others, yet I do it repeatedly before You, the Lover of my soul, often disregarding how my thoughts, attitudes, and actions wound Your heart. O God, forgive and purify me!

Help me recognize how vile and evil these things are in Your eyes, holy and righteous One. Instill a godly sorrow in my heart for my sins, leading me to repentance and allowing me to experience the Spirit's sanctifying work. Everything I am and possess comes from You, yet I often devote myself and what You've entrusted to me to false gods and idols. At best, I am lukewarm and worthy of being rejected by You.

I am not my own; I have been bought at a great price—the precious blood of Jesus Christ. It is incredible that I experience Your Spirit working within me, prompting me to live for You. Lead me to greater spiritual maturity as You empower me to dedicate myself completely to You, holding nothing back. My body is a temple for Your Spirit. Fill me abundantly with Your Holy Spirit so that I may live by the Spirit and overcome the actions of this body.

I feel so distracted and unfocused. Please grant me clear thoughts and a unified heart. Thank You for the undivided heart provided to me in Christ. Teach me to revere Your holy name, for the fear of the Lord is the start of wisdom. God, help me to follow Your guidance as You communicate through Your Word. May I be a dedicated vessel set apart for Your exclusive purpose and use.

Grant me a heart devoted to You above all else, reflecting Your love for me. I love You because You loved me first. Fill my heart with Your love for Your children and compassion for those who have yet to know You. I often find myself reacting to external situations, trying to discern my path as Your child and ambassador for Christ. I am unsure of what to do; guide me to keep my focus and thoughts on You. Help me to live my life from the abundance of close intimate fellowship with You. In Jesus' name, Amen!
