God, Worship Is the Only Appropriate Response (Prayer Journal 235)

Holy Father, in Jesus' name, thank You for how great Your mercy and grace is towards us. You are amazing and awesome. There is no one like You and there is no one who has done for us what You have done for us. You are the great One, the mighty One, You are the Lord. You are holy and transcendent. You are set apart, separate from Your creation and enthroned over it as King. You are unique, distinct, and infinitely superior to everything and everyone. You are the One and only true and living God. You are the only One worthy of our affection, love, loyalty, praise, and worship.

Purify our hearts and give us a sincere desire and hunger for You only. Take Your rightful place on the throne of our hearts as King. May there be no rival to Your rule in our lives. You have captured our hearts. Now help us to fully surrender them to You. Do not let us hold anything back from You for everything that we are and have is Yours. You have set us free from the slave market of sin and from the captivity of satan. You gave Jesus to redeem us from the pit and reconcile us to Yourself. You gave us everything, as the fullness of God dwelt bodily in Him, and withheld nothing.

You sent Him to bear our sin and the sins of the world. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sin. Thank You that You made He (Jesus) who knew no sin to be made sin for us that we might have a right relationship with You through faith in Him. When You look at us You do not see the impurity of our sin but the purity and holiness of Jesus. We are new creations in Christ. You have given us a new nature, new hearts, and Your Holy Spirit so that we can walk in the newness of life. You are pleased with us in Christ and You have given us power to live in a manner that is pleasing to You.

Jesus, make us true worshipers as we give all that we are and have to You who gave Yourself freely and fully for us. Thank You for granting us undivided hearts and teaching us to fear Your holy name. Do not let us live half-heartedly for You, the One who lived the life that we could not live, died the death that we deserved to die, drank the full cup of God's wrath that should have been poured out on us, and rose from the dead to give us eternal life with You. Thank You for the indwelling presence of Your Holy Spirit to empower us to live this new life.

None of this was an afterthought in Your mind. For You chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be adopted into Your family. Jesus was the lamb who was slain to take away our sin, and our names were written in the book of life from the foundation of the world. In the fullness of time Christ was sent into the world to bring redemption to it. Thanks for convicting, convincing, and drawing us to Jesus. You have sealed us with the Holy Spirit, the guarantee of the inheritance which we will fully realize when we are with You. Thank You Jesus for going away to prepare a place for us. You will safely bring us home to Yourself. Amen!!!!
