Seeking Genuine Revival and Holiness in a Distracted World - Prayer Journal 276

Father, in Jesus' name, we need a mighty outpouring of Your Spirit, a genuine revival preceded by repentance from Your children. Cause us to rend our hearts and not just have an outward display that looks and sounds genuine. Help us to open our hands and hearts fully to You. Help us to cease compromising, idolizing our desires, coveting, envying others, being selfish, mismanaging Your gifts, and judging others unfairly.

Please forgive us for our sin and instill in us a genuine desire to be holy, as You, our God, are holy. We have let ourselves be distracted by other things instead of seeking You wholeheartedly. May we experience a godly sorrow for treating You as if You had to compete with other things and people for our affection. Nothing and no one can even remotely compare to You. Forgive us for not valuing You as we should, for treating the sacrifice of Jesus as if it were insignificant, for suppressing Your Spirit rather than honoring You, for not being in awe of who You are and what You have done for us, and for not fully surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus.

There is so much happening in the world that is ungodly, unholy, unrighteous, evil, wicked, corrupt, and depraved. Help us not to focus on these things, but instead to concentrate on You, the God who is holy, righteous, good, perfect, merciful, gracious, kind, loving, all-powerful, and all-knowing. You sent Jesus, the Light of the world, to illuminate the darkness and reveal Your nature. Now, Jesus sends us as lights in the world to shine amidst this darkness, so that people may encounter Him—the Savior of the world and the Hope of nations.

Help us to be informed about worldly events without becoming overwhelmed or distracted from You. You have positioned us in this world, but not to be part of it. Empower and guide us to bring Jesus to those You direct us to. Jesus, You appeared to destroy the works of the devil. Fill us abundantly with Your Holy Spirit and use us to guide many from the bondage of Satan and sin to freedom in Christ.

Do not let us be lulled into complacency by human schemes and agendas but keep us fully alert and aware of what You are accomplishing through Your Church at this time. Make us like the men of Issachar, who understood the era they lived in and knew the right course of action. Unveil Your mysteries to Your children so that we may proclaim Your Kingdom's purpose amidst the city of man. For a day is coming when the kingdoms of this world will become the Kingdom of our Lord and His Christ, which will last forever. Ignite our hearts and passion for You and move us by Your Spirit to spread the gospel of Jesus to all nations, so that You receive the full reward for Your blood shed for the sins of the world. In Jesus' name, Amen!
