Shifting Focus: A Prayer for Divine Guidance and Kingdom Purpose (Prayer Journal 283)

Father, You are good, and Your mercy lasts forever. Forgive me for focusing on myself instead of on You, Your eternal Kingdom, and Your will being fulfilled on earth as it is in heaven. Although I often want it to be about me, it's truly all about You. Do whatever is necessary in my soul, life, marriage, family, work, ministry, and circumstances to draw me closer to You.

I am lost without You. Help me shift my focus from myself to You, so that I can care about those You care for. You left heaven and came to earth to restore everything that was lost. You came to ransom, reconcile, and redeem people from every nation, tribe, group, and language. This was achieved through the blood of Christ shed on the cross for the forgiveness of sin.

In the face of wars, natural disasters, immorality, injustice, and inhumanity, You have called the followers of Jesus to be salt and light. Help us to recognize Your work among the nations. Inspire us through Your Spirit to join You in prayer. I ask for forgiveness for neglecting to pray for those in authority. Forgive me for the time I spend complaining instead of praying and expressing gratitude for Your sovereign control over all creation throughout history.

O God, expand the influence and territory You have granted me through prayer. Release me from the spiritual stagnation caused by dwelling on my own limitations. Guide my focus towards You, the Almighty, for whom nothing is too difficult or impossible. I am thankful that our help comes from the name of the LORD, the Creator of the heavens and the earth. In Jesus' name, Amen!
