God Help Me Rest in You: A Prayer for Intimacy and Overflowing Life - Prayer Journal 237

Father, why is it that I feel like I have to do something to have a sense of really being significant? This causes me to waste so much time throughout my days that could be spent in quiet and rest with You. I spend so much time daily doing things that distract me from You, the One who gives life meaning and satisfaction. There are too many things that rob me of intimacy with You and service to You, my King.

You have anointed, called, and gifted me to preach the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet I am not doing so all that much. Is it because of my disobedience and sin? Have I failed to take steps of faith to execute the ministry that You have entrusted to me? I feel like the man who took his one talent and hid it rather than putting it to work and earning more. Please forgive me for being a lazy and unfaithful servant.

Help me to fully and freely give myself away to You withholding nothing. I am so tired of breaking Your heart as I fail to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus and yield to Your Holy Spirit. I cannot do this apart from Your divine enablement. I know that You love me, but I feel so useless to You. There is no one like You and yet more often than not I treat You like You are common when You are holy. This should not be. Please forgive me and help me to repent of this wicked attitude.

God capture my heart and set it ablaze with a passion for You that the world, the flesh, and the devil will never be able to quench and extinguish. Cause Your holy fire to consume my life where I burn with ever increasing flames without burning up. Thank You that I am more than just Your servant. I am Your dearly loved child. Help me to walk in intimate fellowship with You and to live out of the overflow of that.

Break me from wanting to make a name for myself. Bring me to the place where I do all that I do for Your glory, for the building of Your Kingdom, and the doing of Your will on earth as it is in heaven. You are the source of my strength, and You are the strength of my life. I am asking You to manifest Your presence to me, pour out Your Spirit in overflowing measure upon my life, loose Your Word to me, and grant me a greater revelation of Jesus.

I love You Lord. What do you want me to do next? Thank You for sustaining me strengthening me, growing me, and helping me to persevere as You mature me making me each and every day a little more like Jesus. I do not have anything else to say. What you have to say to me is infinitely more important than any words that I say to You. Speak Lord for Your servant is listening. Help me to willingly and joyfully live for You, my King. Help me to bring glory, honor, and praise to Your great and awesome name. In Jesus' name, Amen!!!
